چکیده

Abstract The paper presents the results of studies on ashes produced from burning wood biomass in closed wood-fired furnaces, individual household furnaces (Silesian Province, Poland). Dry sieve analysis and detailed granulometric were performed with Analysette 22 Micro Tec plus analyser. Content basic elements (Al, Si, P, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Fe) potentially toxic (As, Pb, Cd, Zn, Cu, Ni, Cr, Hg) was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) inductively coupled plasma mass (ICP-MS). Relative enrichment factors (REF s ) calculated for (Pb, As, Hg, Cr), emissions (E) As to environment estimated. carbon content (40.2%–45.8%), H (3.7%–6.1%), O (46.2%–50.2%), N (0.12%–0.32%), S (0.11%–0.96%) varies depends species drying period. volatile parts ranges between 69.3 81%. Ash 2.6 18.3%. calorific value 13.6 MJ/kg 17.4 MJ/kg. Moisture 13.7% (briquette) 46.7% (fresh birch). Identification mineral composition phases yields a high share calcite, monetite, fairchildite, quartz examined ashes. combustion fireplaces increased Pb Cd atmosphere may be cause introducing pollutants waters soils during ash storage.

Faecal-wood biomass co-combustion and ash composition analysis

Fuel blending is a widely used approach in biomass combustion, particularly for feedstocks with low calorific value and high moisture content. In on-site sanitation technologies, fuel blending is proposed as a pre-treatment requirement to reduce moisture levels and improve the physiochemical properties of raw faeces prior to drying. This study investigates the co-combustion performance of wood ...

Mechanisms of Particle Entrainment and Combustion and How They Affect Emissions from Wood-waste Fired Boilers

An analytical model of a spreader-stoker wood waste fired boiler has been developed for pre dicting the size of the largest particle which can be entrained by the upward motion of the furnace gases. This model is based on an entrainment model which equates particle in-situ settling velocity to furnace gas velocity and uses a stirred reactor mod el to evaluate furnace conditions. The effects o...

Enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass from wood

Current research and development in cellulosic ethanol production has been focused mainly on agricultural residues and dedicated energy crops such as corn stover and switchgrass; however, woody biomass remains a very important feedstock for ethanol production. The precise composition of hemicellulose in the wood is strongly dependent on the plant species, therefore different types of enzymes ar...

Organic compounds in biomass smoke from residential wood combustion: Emissions characterization at a continental scale

[1] Wood smoke in the atmosphere often accounts for 20–30% of the ambient fineparticle concentrations. In communities where wood is burned for home heating, wood smoke can at times contribute the majority of the atmospheric fine-particle burden. Chemical mass balance receptor models that use organic compounds as tracers can be used to determine the contributions of different emission sources, i...
